If you want to restore the balance in your chakras, tune in to your feelings. Verify the Chakras & their Imbalance Signs Checklist. Say, if you seek the courage to speak your truth, the right poses open and stimulate the throat chakra.

All the poses discussed address the corresponding chakra and associated life circumstances. You can follow an entire sequence or focus and follow the pose(s) that target concerning areas of your life. For an intensive approach, seat comfortably with your spine erect. After you make the hand Mudra, slowly close your eyes. Envision the associated color radiating from the chakra’s location while you repeat the associated chakra mantra. While you cannot measure the changes physically (like you can measure your height), they can be evident by the changes in your energy. Maybe it helped you calm down or quiet your mind or maybe, you have become more aware that you communicate more concisely and clearly.

Root Chakra — Muladhara

Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

Standing in this pose helps you feel the earth beneath your feet. Stand in this pose for three minutes. When you stand, shift your weight off the center by leaning a little forward, then towards the back, then to the right, and then to the left. Once you find the place where your weight feels evenly distributed, press your weight into the earth. This pose also benefits your legs, feet, knees, and ankles.

Prasarita Padottanasana

This pose brings your head low towards the earth. It also stretches the back of your legs and inner groins. Touch the earth with your hands (even better if you can touch the top of your head). Hold this pose for five deep breaths (or more). When you come out of this pose, hold your hips with your hands and press into the earth with your feet. As you do this, rise with a straight spine.

Earth Mudra (Prithvi / Agni Shaamak Mudra)

Seat comfortably with your spine erect. Rest your hands on your lap. Form the mudra by touching the tip of your ring finger to the tip of your thumb. Extend the remaining fingers away from your palms.

Holding the mudra with increments from 5 to 10 minutes throughout the day increases your earth-like abilities. It also enhances your stability, strength, Vitality, and Endurance. This mudra is also known as Agni Shaamak. It can reverse the overactive metabolism, inflammation, and emaciation effects.

Pranayama

Prana means Breath. A 5 to 10 round of breath to reap its benefits.
It also reduces hunger and thirst and helps you achieve a calm state. To do this, curl the sides of your tongue like a taco shell(if you cannot curl your tongue, it’s fine! You can stick your flattened tongue halfway out from your lips, inhaling through your mouth.
Now close your mouth and touch the cooled tongue to the roof of your mouth and exhale through your nose.

You can also go for Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing).
Nadi — Subtle energy channel
Shodhan — Cleaning / Purification
Pranayama — Breathing Technique

  • Sit comfortably with your spine erect. Relax your shoulders and bring a gentle smile to your face.
  • Place your left hand on your left knee.
  • Keep your palms open facing towards the sky or Chin Mudra (touching the tips of your thumb and index fingers). Next, place the tip of the index and the middle finger of the right hand in between the eyebrows.
  • Place the little finger on the left nostril and thumb on the right nostril.
  • Use the ring finger and the little finger to open and close the left nostril and thumb for the right nostril. Press your thumb on the right nostril and breathe out from the left nostril.
  • Breathe in from the left nostril and then gently press the left nostril with the ring and the little finger and breathe out from the right nostril. Continue the alternative breathing and complete 9 such rounds.

Remember to take deep, steady breaths and keep your eyes closed. Inhale from the same nostril from which you exhaled. Do not use the Ujjayi Breath and do not force the breathing. Do not breathe from the mouth or make any sound while you breathe. Follow this technique with a short meditation.

Chanting the Bija Mantra

The mantra for Root Chakra is “LAM” (pronounced as L-UH-M). For a greater impact, chant this mantra out loud and focus your attention on the base of the spine. Continue this practice till you feel more connected to your body and feel the present moment.
